Damn Dementia

Published April 23,2019 by Renee Field

I am a seed, drilled with destiny

My fate; procreation

I fall from the trees, blow on the wind, float on the seas

And often get rebirthed in dung.

Life is messy, tangled with vines

My growth, coded DNA.

I am a daughter, birthed in mother’s blood

My fate; procreation

I follow your lessons, grow with the years, skip into my own life

And often call out for tearful advice

Life is messy, tangled with dementia vines

My growth, coded DNA.

I am the future, cast to tomorrow

My fate; procreation

I am a person, not a disease or a seed destined to sprout

And often I wrench the will of my owner

Life is messy, tangled with dementia vines, supplanting DNA
